Why Every Ambitious Woman Should Consider Joining Junior League
I joined the Junior League of Savannah in August 2024, and almost immediately, I found myself thinking, “Where has this been all my life?”
I didn’t just find a cause. I found my people.
Women who show up. Who text you just to check in. Who believe in leadership without ego and service without applause. And if you’re someone who cares deeply about your community but doesn’t always know where to plug in, this might just be your sign.
So, whether you’re new in town, craving connection, or ready to give back in a more meaningful way, here are 10 reasons why Junior League might be exactly what you’ve been looking for:
1. You’ll finally find your people.
You know that rare kind of friendship that feels like exhale? That’s what I found in Junior League. These are women who genuinely want to support one another—whether it’s showing up to paint a mural at 8 a.m. or bringing a bottle of wine when your week has been a lot.
No competition. No cliques. Just community.
2. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure.
Junior League isn’t one-size-fits-all. You can go full throttle and lead a committee, or dip your toes in with a couple of events and social meetups. It’s truly what you make of it, and there’s zero shame in how much or how little you take on. Some seasons are slower than others, and that’s okay.
3. You don’t have to be “qualified.”
If you’ve ever thought, “I’m not accomplished enough for something like this” please hear me: you are. There is no checklist or resume requirement. If you care about your community, you already belong here. Everyone starts somewhere. You just have to show up.

This isn’t distant or performative charity. This is roll-up-your-sleeves and see-the-difference kind of work.
I’ve packed food boxes with Second Harvest, mentored local youth through Park Place, and watched a young teen make his first passive sale from a business we helped him build. The ripple effects? Real. And deeply personal.
5. You’ll grow as a leader—on your own terms.
Junior League isn’t just about service but leadership without burnout. I started as a member and now serve as Legislative Liaison and PR Chair. I’m currently working on a bill to bring domestic violence reform to Georgia, pushing for a law around coercive control and trauma-informed training for judges. I never expected this to be part of my story, but the League made space for me to grow into it.
6. You’ll be part of history. Literally.
Savannah’s League is about to turn 100 years old, and to celebrate, we’re building a Women’s Legacy Monument in Oglethorpe Square. It’s a collaboration with SCAD Serve, honoring generations of women who’ve shaped our city.
It’s not just a monument, it’s a movement. One that says: “We were here. And we made it better.”
