5 Daily Anchors That Keep Me From Burning Out
Because “being productive” should never cost you your peace – steal my 5 anchors.
There was a time when my to-do list was a badge of honor. I’d roll out of bed already behind, chug caffeine like it was a character trait, and sprint toward a finish line that kept moving.
And spoiler alert: I still didn’t feel “caught up.” Ever.
If you’ve ever felt that—like your life is moving faster than your nervous system can keep up—you’re not alone. And you’re not broken.
I don’t live like that anymore.
Not because I magically stopped having things to do. But because I learned to anchor my days with softness.
Rituals. Boundaries. A rhythm that holds me, instead of one I’m constantly chasing.
And these 5 daily anchors? They’ve changed everything.
So pour something fizzy, take a deep breath, and let’s talk about it.
1. The Morning Meet-Up (with Myself)
Before I check my phone. Before I check in with anyone else. I check in with me.
No, it’s not a 17-step morning routine with lemon water and affirmations and dry brushing while journaling under a Himalayan salt lamp. It’s usually just ten quiet minutes.
A walk. A devotional. A journal prompt. Sometimes it’s coffee and silence before the house wakes up. I do make my alarm affirmations though so I can hear something positive before my brain ever wakes up.
This is the moment I ask myself:
What do I need today to feel like myself?
And then I try, really try, to honor that answer.
🫶 Anti-Hustle Tip: Set a recurring calendar block called “Anchor Time.” It doesn’t have to be long. It just has to be yours.
2. Moving My Body for Sanity, Not Strategy
I used to work out because I hated my body. Now I move because I like her, and I want her to feel good for a long time. Whether it’s hot yoga, an early morning walk, or ten minutes of stretching between Zoom calls, movement is my nervous system’s love language.
It helps me breathe deeper. Think clearer. And, let’s be real, it gets me out of my head and into my body, where I’m less likely to spiral over the thing that didn’t go perfectly.
🫶 Anti-Hustle Tip: Instead of “working out,” try calling it “moving well.” Feels lighter, right?
3. A Midday Re-Center, Not a Rush
This one’s sacred.
Midday, I pause.
It might be lunch on the porch.
Or 10 minutes of watercolor painting while something simmers on the stove.
Or I’ll text a friend just to say, “Thinking of you.”
It’s not about checking out, it’s about checking in.
Because when I don’t stop mid-stream, I start resenting the current. And that’s when burnout sneaks in.
🫶 Anti-Hustle Tip: Add a daily “pause point” to your calendar. Title it whatever makes you smile.

4. Doing One Thing All the Way
Multitasking is a liar.
She makes you think you’re getting more done, when really you’re doing a bunch of things halfway, and wondering why you still feel behind.
So here’s my rule:
Do one thing at a time.
Do it well.
And then move on.
If it’s writing, I’m writing.
If it’s making dinner, I’m romanticizing every stir.
And if it’s resting? I’m not doom-scrolling while doing it.
🫶 Anti-Hustle Tip: Keep a sticky note that says “One thing at a time, babe” somewhere visible. It’s soft accountability.
5. A Gentle Close to the Day
I don’t want my last thought at night to be a Slack notification, so I wind down intentionally.
That might look like skincare and a book. Or a glass of wine and a call with my sister. Or simply lighting a candle and tidying up my space with music playing low.
It’s less about what I do and more about how I do it. I close my day like I would close my home to guests, with grace, with warmth, and with peace.
🫶 Anti-Hustle Tip: Ask yourself each night: “What would make tomorrow easier?” Then prep that thing. (Clothes, lunch, coffee setup, anything.)
