How to Create a Morning Routine That Feels Luxurious (Even If You’re Busy)

Hey friend,

I used to think morning routines were just for those people who wake up at 5 AM, meditate for an hour, drink green juice, and somehow have their life completely together.

Spoiler alert: That’s not me. That’s also not real life.

But I’ve learned that a good morning routine isn’t about perfection—it’s about creating a moment of peace before the chaos of the day begins. And here’s the best part: You can make your mornings feel luxurious without adding more to your plate.

This isn’t about waking up earlier or doing more—it’s about being intentional with the time you already have.

So, let’s create a morning routine that feels effortless, elegant, and energizing—even if you’re busy.

1. Set the Tone for your morning routine the Night Before

Your morning starts the night before. If you wake up to a messy kitchen, a cluttered to-do list, and no idea what’s on your schedule, you’re already starting the day feeling behind.

Try this before bed:
Tidy up one small space (even just clearing the kitchen counter makes a difference)
Lay out your outfit—this eliminates decision fatigue in the morning
Write down your top 3 priorities for the next day—so you wake up with a plan
✔ Actually to bed at a solid time and get a nighttime routine down.

Here is a quick run down of my nighttime routine.

  1. 8:45 PM – skincare routine
    • This includes my gua sha, cleanser, under eye serum and moisturizer.
  2. 9:00 PM – read a book (not a screen)
  3. 9:45 PM – put the book down and go to sleep. I use a Bluetooth eye mask so I can put on an evening meditation and I can sleep even if my hubs stays up. & then I swear by mouth tape. My sleep score went from the low 60s to a 99 after I got mouth tape so 10/10 recommend.

📖 Proverbs 31:27 – “She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.”

2. Wake Up Slowly (No More Jarring Alarms!)

How you wake up sets the tone for your whole day.

Instead of being jolted awake by a blaring alarm, try this:

Small upgrades that make waking up feel luxurious:
Use a sunrise alarm clock that mimics natural light
Play soft instrumental or worship music instead of a harsh ringtone
Take 30 seconds to stretch in bed before grabbing your phone

Pro Tip: Put your phone across the room so you don’t immediately start scrolling when you wake up.

3. Elevate Your Morning Drink (It’s the Little Things!)

Whether it’s coffee, tea, or lemon water, this is your first moment of the day to romanticize.

Try this:
✔ Swap your regular mug for a pretty glass or ceramic cup—small details change the experience
✔ Add collagen or adaptogens for a wellness boost
✔ Sip it somewhere peaceful (by a window, on your porch, or in a cozy chair) I personally like to open all my blinds first thing in the morning so I am getting some natural light immediately. I also take my coffee outside while the dogs run around for a bit.

Pro Tip: Don’t drink your coffee while rushing around. Sit, sip, and actually enjoy it.

4. Create a “Slow Start” Moment (Even If It’s Just 5 Minutes!)

You don’t need a long, complicated morning routine—but having a small moment of intentionality makes all the difference.

Choose 1 of these simple rituals to add peace to your morning:
Read a Bible verse or devotional (even just one!)
Journal for 3 minutes—write down gratitude, prayers, or affirmations
Step outside for fresh air—a deep breath in the morning is magic. Even better if you go outside barefoot and touch some grass.

📖 Lamentations 3:22-23 – “His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.”

5. Get Ready in a Way That Makes You Feel Good

You don’t have to be fully dressed and glam every morning, but there’s something about putting yourself together that shifts your energy.

Try this:
✔ Swap old PJs for a cute matching lounge set—effortless but intentional
✔ Add one small beauty ritual (lip balm, perfume, or skincare)
✔ Put on real clothes—even if you work from home, it makes a difference!

Pro Tip: Romanticize this process—play music, light a candle, and make it feel special.

Final Thoughts: Your Morning Routine Should Feel Like a Gift, Not a Chore

If your mornings feel rushed, overwhelming, or chaotic, it’s not about adding more tasks—it’s about making small shifts that create a sense of peace.
