How to Create a No-Phone Zone at Home (And Actually Keep It)
A no-phone zone because peace is the ultimate luxury.
Lately, I’ve been craving something quieter.
Not silence, exactly. I don’t mean the absence of sound—my house is still full of music, laughter, dinner sizzling on the stove, and the occasional dog bark. I mean quiet in the soul. Stillness. A chance to be present without being plugged in.
We talk a lot about curating our lives—our homes, our wardrobes, our spaces. But I think one of the most overlooked areas to curate is our relationship with technology.
And let me tell you… creating a no-phone zone in your home might be one of the most luxurious and liberating things you’ll ever do.
Why I Created a No-Phone Zone
It started small. I noticed how often I was reaching for my phone—not out of urgency, but out of habit. I’d sit down with a cup of tea, planning to enjoy a quiet moment… and 30 minutes later, I’d be deep into a scroll spiral, my tea cold and my peace replaced with comparison.
Sound familiar?
The phone isn’t the enemy. It’s a tool. A useful one, even. But when something designed to serve us begins to steal our presence, that’s when it’s time to re-evaluate.
So, I asked myself:
Where in my home do I actually want to be present?
Where do I want peace to take priority?
And I started curating a space for that.
No phones. No notifications. Just intention.
🌿 What My No-Phone Zone Looks Like
Mine lives in the corner of my bedroom. It’s not anything fancy—just a cozy armchair, a linen throw blanket, a small tray with my favorite devotional, a candle, and a carafe of water. Sometimes I bring in a journal, sometimes just myself.
The rules are simple:
No phones.
No laptops.
No outside noise.
This is where I return to myself.
Where I pray.
Where I read.
Where I think.
Where I don’t have to perform or produce.

✨ How to Create Your Own No-Phone Zone
Whether you live in a studio apartment or a sprawling home, you can create a sacred space where presence is the goal. Here’s how to start:
1. Choose the right location
Pick a spot where you naturally feel calm—by a window, on your porch, even your dining table. It doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be intentional.
2. Set the tone
Bring in a few sensory details: a soft throw, a candle, a playlist, a devotional or poetry book, a carafe of lemon water. Make it somewhere you want to go.
3. Communicate the boundary
If you have kids, a spouse, or roommates—let them know this is your time. This is your space to unplug, reset, and reconnect with yourself (and with God, if that’s part of your rhythm).
4. Make it part of your routine
Start with 10 minutes a day. You don’t need an hour. Just start somewhere. Maybe it’s your morning coffee or winding down before bed.
💭 What I’ve Noticed Since Unplugging
I’m more present with my family.
I’m not as reactive.
I listen better.
I dream more.
And I’m more in tune with what God is trying to show me in the small, quiet moments.
This isn’t about a rule or restriction—it’s about creating space. Space for peace. For clarity. For beauty.
And truthfully? That feels like the most curated part of my life right now. Not a perfectly styled shelf or new outfit. But the permission to be still.
Romanticizing Stillness
In a culture that wants us addicted to momentum, choosing to slow down is radical. Creating a no-phone zone is a small rebellion against burnout. A return to delight.
So light the candle. Pour the drink. Put your phone down.
And just be.
Be in your space.
Be in your thoughts.
Be in your presence.
Be in His.
Even five minutes of stillness is sacred.
📌 Tell me below—do you have a space like this? Would you ever try it? Or have you created another intentional boundary that’s changed your rhythms?
I’d love to hear how you’re curating your peace this season.
